Balgove Larder is delighted to announce a lineup of music, crafts and of course, outstanding local food for its Christmas Night Market on 12th December.

The market takes place in Balgove Larder’s famous Steak Barn – a distinctive converted farm shed with walls made from recycled potato crates and a huge wood-fired barbeque at its centre.  Visitors will be able to choose from a menu of dishes straight off the grill or select snacks from the bakery team and visiting street food outlets like The Toasty Cheese Shack.

Shoppers will be able to stock up for the Christmas table with Christmas cakes from A Bonnie Wee Cake; hand crafted chocolates from Pittenweem’s Cocoa Tree; vodka and cocktail kits from Scotland’s own Ogilvy Vodka; craft beers from local breweries Eden Mill and St Andrews Brewing Company and more besides. Balgove Larder’s own wine expert will even be available to advise about Christmas wine pairings.

Those looking to complete their Christmas shopping list will also be able to select beautiful gifts from a collection including the likes of Louise Wedderburn’s hand crafted knitwear; Jo McFarlane’s hand-poured candles; and Scottish rural crafts from Thistle Originals.

A festive atmosphere will be guaranteed with live carol singing, mulled wine and a visit from Santa, who will be giving away complimentary homemade treats.  In addition, violinist, Karen Hannah, accompanied on the guitar, will be delivering a mixture of bluegrass, cover tracks and seasonal songs.

Will Docker, Founder of Balgove Larder said:

“Christmas is a time of year when everyone thinks more about food and drink.  We focus on producing and serving the best food and drink all year round but have put together this Christmas Night Market as a seasonal snapshot of everything we love about this time of year.  Whether people are visiting us to eat, drink, shop or enjoy the music, I know everyone of all ages will have a wonderfully festive time!”

Balgove Larder’s Steak Barn runs until 17th December with a menu of barbequed dishes and a bar serving up local beers and other drinks.  With long communal tables and its own bar, the Steak Barn is heated and popular into the winter, open Wednesday – Sunday until November; Thursday – Sunday from November, 12:00pm – 8:30pm until 17th December.

As well as the popular Christmas Night Market, Balgove Larder’s in-house florist will be running two Christmas wreath-making classes this winter. In these festive classes, participants will be provided with all the seasonal sprigs, stems and know-how to create their very own Christmas wreath.  Balgove’s kitchen will keep everyone warm with mulled wine or spiced apple and homemade mince pies.  The classes take place from 09.30 to 11.30am on 2nd and 9th December.  Tickets cost £40 per person including all necessary materials and refreshments.  Advance booking is essential.

Balgove Larder is now taking orders for Christmas.  The range includes everything needed for the festive season: from turkey and goose to chipolatas and venison, as well as handpicked vegetables and pies, smoked salmon and sauces.  The order form can be downloaded from www.balgove.com.
