Burntisland, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Leven, and Lundin Links and Largo

Fabulous views, splendid beaches and plenty of delicious food spots.

With fabulous views across the Firth of Forth this area contains some of Fife’s biggest towns as well as splendid beaches at places like Burntisland, Kinghorn, Leven and Lower Largo.

Food lovers visiting this area will enjoy the monthly farmers market at Kirkcaldy, which is an opportunity to meet those who produce some of the area’s best meat, vegetables, jams and more. Farmers like Puddledub, and The Buffalo Farm have developed a reputation that extends beyond Fife for the quality of their pork, beef and more. You’ll also find award-winning pies tucked away and baked fresh at Glenrothes’ Minicks Pie Shack.

At Lundin Links, The Old Manor Hotel has outstanding views over the links to the Firth of Forth. It’s these links that provide some of the gorse flowers made into a delicious gin by the nearby Lundin Distilling.

Visitors will be able to build up an appetite at the famous Wemyss Caves, and the ruined Ravenscraig Castle or the renowned collections at Kirkcaldy Galleries. There is also the picturesque community of Lower Largo, which is the birthplace of sailor Alexander Selkirk, who was the inspiration for Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe.

Eateries include as the Orangery at Balbirnie House at Markinch, the Old Manor Hotel in Lundin Links and the hugely popular Blacketyside Farm Shop near Leven, which offers seasonal vegetables and berries, a café and a large kids’ play area.

If this has just whetted your appetite, you might enjoy the workshops, demonstrations and food tours offered by local chef and food expert, Christopher Trotter.
