St Andrews ice cream makers, Jannettas Gelateria, is set to launch a new flavour of ice cream, which combines their trademark Italian gelato with Edinburgh Gin’s latest release, Plum & Vanilla liqueur.

The limited edition ‘adult flavour’ will make its debut at Crail Food Festival, one of Scotland’s major food festivals, on 10th and 11th June 2017.

Inspired by the two best things about summer, gin and ice cream, the new flavour features a combination of creamy Madagascan vanilla, the tart fruitiness of juicy Scottish plums and a dash of Edinburgh Gin’s Plum & Vanilla liqueur.

Owen Hazel, Owner of Jannettas Gelateria, said;

“What I particularly enjoy about the Crail Food Festival is the vast array and diverse number of Scottish food and drink producers it attracts into the area and with it, the fantastic collaborative opportunities it provides. I approached Edinburgh Gin with the suggestion of us creating a new gelato flavour, which incorporates Edinburgh Gin’s Plum & Vanilla liqueur. It was the perfect flavour to use with our creamy vanilla ice cream and I wasn’t wrong. I look forward to revealing all at this year’s Crail Food Festival with Edinburgh Gin and celebrating its success.”

Michelle Stewart, Production Manager of Jannettas Gelateria, said;

“I’m always on the look out for new and different flavours to concoct so when Owen approached me with this exciting opportunity to work with Edinburgh Gin I was very much up for the challenge. I’ve really enjoyed creating the new flavour and can’t wait for the food and drink connoisseurs at the festival to enjoy!”

The new ice cream is available to taste and purchase at the Crail Food Festival. A single scoop waffle cone will cost £2.25, and a single tub will cost £1.80.

The Festival opens at 10.30am and costs £5 for an adult (entry for children is free). The day pass allows entry to all daytime venues and free parking.
