After many years of proudly championing local food and drink, Food from Fife will enter a period of hibernation from March 2026 due to ongoing funding challenges.
This has been a difficult decision. Regional Food Groups provide vital, front-line support to small food and drink businesses – creating connection, visibility and opportunity. However, the current funding landscape makes it increasingly challenging to sustain this work at the level our members deserve. Rather than dilute that support, the Board has taken the responsible decision to pause activity while future options are explored.
Over the past year, the group has delivered a consistent programme of member newsletters, Meet the Member features, networking events and one-to-one support. We developed branded retail display units across Fife to create new routes to market, delivered workshops and tasting events, and supported regional showcases including Tasting Tayside & Fife – all with the aim of strengthening Fife’s food and drink sector through collaboration.
More widely, throughout its lifetime, Food from Fife has also contributed to strategic initiatives including the Fife abattoir project and the Coastal Path project, supporting conversations around local supply chains, food tourism and the long-term resilience of Fife’s food and drink infrastructure.
Beyond the activity itself, Food from Fife has always been about people. It has been about conversations around tables, introductions that led to new partnerships, shared challenges and shared successes. The strength of the group has always come from its members.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Board for their commitment, guidance and belief in the importance of regional collaboration. Their support, given voluntarily and often behind the scenes, has shaped the direction and integrity of the group.
A special thank you also goes to our members – for your resilience, generosity, creativity and willingness to show up for one another. Hosting events, sharing expertise, supplying products for showcases, mentoring peers or simply engaging with the network – your energy has defined Food from Fife.
As the group enters hibernation, the coordination role also concludes. It has been a privilege to work alongside so many dedicated businesses and to witness first-hand the talent, determination and innovation within Fife’s food and drink community.
Although active delivery is pausing, the website will remain live and the member directory will continue to provide a valuable platform for discovery and connection. We encourage everyone to continue supporting the outstanding businesses featured here.
This is not a closing chapter, but a pause. The foundations remain strong, and we remain hopeful that future funding will enable the next phase of this important work.
