We are delighted to announce that we have won two Gold Medals at the International Wine and Spirits Competition! The IWSC is one of the most coveted competitions within the spirits industry. It is one of the world’s largest and most influential with hundreds of entries each year in the wine and spirits category. World-renowned judges sample and critique the products, providing tasting notes and areas for improvement. With this in mind, Tayport Distillery entered their spirits into the IWSC to receive feedback, as we are constantly looking to refine and develop our spirit. However, this year we were delighted to receive gold medals with incredible tasting notes!

Our Malted Barley Vodka has been our pride and joy from the very beginning of our journey into distilling. Here are a few words from Kecia, Director ‘I know we talk about it a lot, but it is so important for us to do everything from scratch, using our own base spirit to make our Malted Barley Vodka. It is incredible to be recognised with an Outstanding Gold Medal! The bartenders in our community kept encouraging us to release our vodka, so we have you to thank! Sam Milne, Dan Caddell and Rory Stark, this one is for you!’ Read the judges comments below:

‘ Comforting cacao nibs enveloped in rich chocolate loaf and laced with malted spiced vanilla. Smooth and luxurious; a gorgeously unctuous textured sweet nectar. Highly accomplished.’

We have always had the ambition to do things a little differently. Our Wild Rose Gin is no exception, harnessing the botanicals in our area where Wild Rose grows in abundance, our gin was developed with delicate botanicals in mind, inspired by the Head Chef at The Newport Restaurant, Tasso Neofitos . We took a unique approach to distillation capturing all the flavours of the botanicals. We macerate and vapour infuse to create a balanced gin that is refined in taste. Read what the judges had to say below: ‘Elegant complexity and depth of floral and sweet earth aromas, developing into pine and citrus on the palate. An expressive palate that is vibrant and flavoursome, providing complexity of juniper and black pepper on the finish.’
