The Tay Cities Regional Food Groups (Great Perthshire, Appetite for Angus, Food from Fife and Eat & Drink Dundee) have been successful in securing funding from Scotland Food & Drink’s Regional Sourcing fund to support the objective of enhancing the sales of regional food in local specialist retailers.
We’ve decided to try something different this year and rather than running a traditional ‘Meet the Buyer’ event like we have the last few years, we’re going to take a selection of local products “on the road” to meet buyers in their locations. This follows a successful pilot of this concept across Angus last Spring.
Participating businesses will put forward one or two products from their range and provide samples and pricing. These will be taken out and presented to retail buyers in farm shops, delis, and similar outlets across the four regions.
We are looking for applications across all product categories so that we can present a wide cross section of the wonderful products from our region. We’re aiming for 6-8 producers from each region.
To take part, the following criteria are required:
– You don’t already employ a dedicated salesperson
– Your products must be retail-ready [if you need help or advice on this please contact us]
– Turnover < £250k
– Membership of one of the Taycities Regional Food Groups
(The above criteria are preferable but consideration will be given to applicants with larger turnover or their own dedicated salesperson where space allows.)
The retailer visits will take place in January and February 2025 so we are looking for applications by Friday 8th December so that we have time to compile product information and prepare a brochure. Successful applicants will be asked to provide a contribution of £150 towards project costs and samples and information to be presented.
Orders can be taken during the visits and will be passed to you to fulfil delivery and take payment/invoice direct with the customer.
