The general manager of the five red star Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa in St Andrews has expressed delight over the resort’s recent regional category win in the VisitScotland Thistle Awards.
The comment from Daniel Pereira comes in the wake of the resort being named winner in Scotland’s Central South & East Region and reaching the national final in the Best Hotel category of the awards.
In the final, which will be judged later this year, the resort will be up against the Balmoral Hotel Roxburghe Hotel and Golf Course.
Mr Pereira said that the Thistle Awards are recognised by industry peers and customers as testament to the very best standards and dedication.
“We congratulate all of those nominated, the category winners – and we very much look forward to representing St Andrews at the national awards this autumn.”
The iconic hotel in the home of golf was recognised as having “a proven track record and evidence of exceptional customer care” by the judges.
Richard Pinn, Regional Director at of Visit Scotland, said that the accommodation sector is intrinsic to Scottish tourism.
“Representing the largest sector of tourism by spend, the hotel experience is a key contributor to many visitors lasting impressions of Scotland.
“This award recognises the pursuit of excellence in customer service, care and creating a memorable experience.

In the Best Self Serve Accommodation category Morton of Pitmilly Countryside Resort will contest the national final alongside Williamscraig Holiday Cottages and Crosswoodhill Farm Holiday Cottages.
