The Fife Food Network’s ‘Food from Fife’ initiative is working to promote the area’s high quality local produce, and its tourism businesses, through developing a ‘Fife Breakfast’ promotional brand.

Based on the success of similar initiatives elsewhere in the UK, the scheme is being launched next week at a workshop in the hospitality department at the SRUC Elmwood Campus in Cupar.

Food from Fife’s Viv Collie said that accommodation providers in the area are already renowned for their breakfasts, and the half day course will build on this reputation.

It will focus on the use of easily sourced local ingredients and will help participants learn some “tricks of the trade” as they make amazing breakfasts, reduce waste, and provide value for money.

The session will feature breakfast items such as home-made bread, porridge, potato scones, soft fuit compote and other traditionalingredients in a hands-on session with demonstrations and tastings.

Participants will receive a folder containing all the recipes, hints, tips, and contacts for local suppliers.

The first ‘Fife Breakfast’ workshop for local B&B and Guest House owners will take place at SRUC Elmwood Campus between 1.30-5.30pm on Wednesday 7th November.

The cost is only £10, with all ingredients provided
