Owners of B&B’s and guest houses in Fife are being given another opportunity to take part in cookery courses aimed at creating a new “Fife Breakfast” brand for the important tourism sector.

Following a highly successful initial session with the hospitality team of chef/lecturers at ElmwoodCollege in Cupar, the next part of the initiative will take place in the west of the Kingdom.

This time the Fife Food Network’s “Food from Fife” team is working with Cowdenbeath-based Courses for Cooks.

The well known cook school is run by Jenny Thomson, who has many years of experience in food and tourism.

Food from Fife’s Viv Collie said that the project is aimed at people who are passionate about serving their guests good local food, and might be looking for some new ideas.

“Fife produces some of the finest produce in the UK.  What could be better for visitors than offering them a real “Fife Breakfast” using the best of local and seasonal produce”

“The sessions will help provide business owners with everything they need to know about making the ultimate Fife Breakfast.

“Using easily sourced local ingredients, they can learn professional tricks of the trade needed to make amazing breakfasts, reduce waste, and provide value for money”

Viv said among the dishes will be home-made bread, potato scones, gluten-free granola, fruit compote, and poached eggs/eggs Benedict style. There will also be a chance to brush up breakfast presentation skills.

All the ingredients will be locally produced and easily sourced, and the course will consist of a hands-on cooking sessions, demonstrations, napkin folding techniques and produce tastings.

At the end, participants will receive a folder containing all the recipes, hints, tips, and contacts for local suppliers.

The courses will be held at the cook school between 10am-3pm on:
