Courses for Cooks owner Jenny Thomson was flying the flag for Fife food as she worked at the West Fife Show at the weekend.

Jenny used produce from Puddledub Pork and Dalachy Beef as she provided a series of demonstrations in the craft marquee.

Jenny, who has worked a cook and chef for over twenty years, trained at the renowned Leiths School of Food and Wine in London.

She worked as a private cook in Scotland, France, Canada and the United States  before coming back to Scotland to work as a chef in St Andrews.

Jenny then took over the running of the Butterchurn, a small farm shop and milk bar in West Fife.

Over the next fifteen years she transformed it from a small seasonal business to a year round destination restaurant with a food and craft centre.

Proudly wearing an apron with our “Food from Fife” logo, Jenny said that she is passionate about good, seasonal home cooking produced with “the minimum of fuss and maximum flavour.”

Courses for Cooks ( is based in a Victorian manse within two acres of gardens in the heart of Fife.

Jenny’s courses are held in her own kitchen, and are limited to four people.
