Cupar’s Elmwood College is seeking feedback from rural businesses as it progresses plans for setting up an Artisan Food Centre.

The college has prepared an on-line questionnaire to obtain feedback on its proposal for a Scottish centre of excellence at its farm complex near the town.

The questionnaire is aimed at food and drink producers, food processors, people involved in hospitality and tourism and national bodies.

The centre will build on Elmwood’s existing school in production horticulture and will initially focus on cheesemaking, breadmaking, charcuterie and juicing.

It will work closely with local businesses, offering facilities and short-term courses to those with an interest in artisan food and drink.

This could include topics such as retail and display facilities, training, meeting and business incubation space.

As well as food-related skills, students would learn about product development, business management and supply chain issues for quality food production.

The centre would be the first of its type in Scotland, creating a facility for students and small-scale producers.
