Producer, Cafe, Gelateria, in St Andrews
For four generations, since Bennett Jannetta left the small village of Atina near Casino in Italy, the family business has been making much loved premium Gelato in St Andrews.
Now run by husband and wife team Owen and Nicola Hazel (Bennett’s great grand daughter), Jannettas still uses only the finest ingredients, many of which are imported from Italy.
All the Gelato, in a range of both classic and modern flavours, is made on the newly refurbished premises using traditional artisan machinery.
The story began in 1908 when Bennett started the family business at 31 South Street, St Andrews as a soda parlour and tobacconist.
Nicola and Owen have been in charge for the last twenty years, and they also have a Gelateria in George Street, Perth.
“Experts say that for a business to last four generation is exceptional. I believe that for a business to last for four generations many things are required, but an essential ingredient is passion,” said Nicola.
