Dunfermline area

Scotland’s ancient capital Dunfermline is absolutely steeped in history with its abbey and its very royal connections, not least those of King Malcolm Canmore and his wife Queen Margaret.

It is the birthplace of Andrew Carnegie, a handloom weaver’s son who went on to become one of the world’s richest men and one of mankind’s most prominent philanthropists.  

The area’s many food attractions include the Wee Restaurant in North Queensferry, where chef Craig Wood has built a formidable reputation, and the popular hotel-based Room With A View fish restaurant at Aberdour, with chef Tim Robson. The area also has ice cream maker Nelson’s and the Biscuit Café, both in Culross, Baxters at Kelty, the Unicorn Inn at Kincardine, Reuben’s deli-café, Garvock House Hotel and Grill 48 in Dunfermline, the monthly Dunfermline Farmers’ Market, Dobbie’s Farm Foodhall, and whisky and gin specialist the Spencerfield Spirit Company at Inverkeithing.
