Posted by Fife Food Network on 31/08/2018

Ardross Farm Shop’s traditionally reared, grass-fed beef has made it to the delicious. Magazine Produce Award national final.

Reared on their farms nestled in the East Neuk of Fife, Ardross Farm Shop’s beef is one of their best selling products. Their herd graze nutrient rich grassland throughout their life and are reared ethically using natural methods. A certified High Health Herd, the meat comes from animals that have never been given antibiotics and are not blanket vaccinated. The beef is dry hung for a minimum of twenty-one days before butchering into a range of choice cuts, delicious sausages, mouth watering roasts, tasty mince and any other cut requested by customers.

Nikki Storrar, family member and manager of the shop commented ‘Everyone here at Ardross is absolutely delighted to hear our beef has made it to the national final. We decided a long time ago that we wanted to change the way we farm to make it more sustainable and in line with what our customers wanted. Changing farming practices takes time however so we are thrilled that after many years of improving our breeding, feed, butchering and retailing our hard work has paid off. From the team on the farm who care for the cattle to our shop staff inspiring people to buy our beef, everyone is very excited.’

Judges for the Scottish regional heat included Chef & Presenter, Mark Heirs; Food consultant, writer and founder of the Edinburgh New Town Cookery School, Fiona Burrell; Head of Regional Food, Scotland Food and Drink, Fiona Richmond and Sue Lawrence, food writer, presenter and author.

The judges joined TV chef and author Valentina Harris at the award winning home appliance kitchen of Fisher & Paykel in front of a live audience at the Perth Show on August 3rd.

delicious. editor Karen Barnes commented: “The delicious. Produce Awards were conceived to honour and champion the very best producers all around the UK. We’re delighted to be putting these top quality products through to our national finals, which will be judged in London in October this year. The standard has been higher than ever for our 2018 awards, so it’s a huge achievement for every shortlistee.”
