Fife’s Eden Brewery is in for a truly hectic festive period with activity close to home and in the heart of Edinburgh.
This weekend, at the start of the St Andrews Food and Drink Festival, the brewery’s Paul Miller will be launching “12 Beers of Xmas” at Fairmont St Andrews two day “Christmas in November” event.
Paul said that the launch, during the first weekend of the St Andrews Food and Drink Festival, features a range of 12 different beers in a special box (one for each day of Christmas).
“Each beer has bespoke tasting notes and a link to a tutored tasting by a member of the Eden team on our the brewery’s Facebook and website pages.
“There will be only 1000 of these produced and they will be available from Balgove, Ardross Farm Shop, Loch Leven Larder, Eden Brewery Shop at Guardbridge, Mitchells Deli or on line shop. These can also be delivered anywhere in the UK making it an ideal Christmas gift for any beer lover.
“The beers include six limited release single batch beers and a couple of exclusives, including Eden’s Seasonal Barley Wine which is a modern hoppy twist on a classic beer style and at 8.5abv it is described as full of flavour and ‘packing a punch’.
“It also includes the unique 600 Anniversary Brew which has been developed with the Fellowship of St Andrews to celebrate the St Andrews Night Ceilidh and Ball. It is a beer which depicts St Andrews brewing tradition over 600 years, and it includes a range of ingredients used in brewing throughout the period - including local honey and meadowsweet,” said Paul.
“12 Beers of Xmas” also includes a selection of oak aged beers which have spent up to 100 days maturing in classic whisky, rum and bourbon barrels, the hugely sought after ‘Shipwreck IPA’ along with a few of the Eden ‘Craft Range’ and the Fairmont’s own unique ‘Kilted Kittock’ a collaborative brew developed by Eden and the Fairmont chefs.
The full list is Whisky, Rum and Bourbon ‘Oak Aged, Shipwreck IPA, 600 Honey Beer, Festive Barley Wine, Kilted Kittock, RAF Leuchars Commemorative Brew, St Andrews Blonde, 19th Brew, the Clock, Seggie Porter.
In addition the Central Bar in St Andrews will be supporting local brewing by running an ‘Eden Brewery Beer Festival’ from November 4-11. They will be featuring four Eden Brews through the period, and activity will include met the brewer sessions, beer flights in sample sizes, and free tickets for brewery tours.
Paul said that Eden Brewery will be also represented at the appropriately named St Andrews Square in Edinburgh this Xmas where it will have a very smart ‘pop up’ shop from 22nd November until 5th January.
The shop will offer the range of Eden beers and a couple of partner whisky and spirit brands and will be part of a Scottish Food and Drink experience.
The Square is located midway between Harvey Nichols and Jenners in the town centre and is expected to be a busy hub with the famous Speigel Tent and other entertainment taking place on a daily basis.
